Most buyers judge a house based on its current layout, but family needs can change significantly over 5–10 years. Extra bedrooms, separate portions, accessibility changes, or additional floors may eventually become necessary. Should buyers evaluate how easily a house can be modified before purchasing it?

Definitely. A flexible floor plan is underrated. Being able to convert a room or separate part of the house later can save a huge amount compared with moving.

I think it matters more for people buying a long-term family home. Investors probably care more about current demand and resale potential.
